Hey everyone!
If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering why my blog has been quieter than a mouse in a library this year. Well, grab a cuppa and settle in because things have been a bit hectic over here!
First off, remember those studies I mentioned? They kind of took over my life for a while! But guess what? I smashed my NVQ Level 4 in Residential Childcare and got a distinction! 🎉 (I may or may not have done a little victory dance.) When those distinction results came in, let’s just say I may have celebrated with a few celebratory drinks… and maybe done a little (okay, a lot) of bragging. Hey, I earned it! And honestly, I’m still riding that high. Distinction, baby!
But that’s not all! On the home front, we’ve been trying to sell our flat and buy a house. Let’s just say it’s been an adventure. Picture this: we found the perfect house, put in an offer, and were this close to getting it, when BAM! selling the flat turns out to be harder then buying one who would have guessed As for the house hunt, it’s been a rollercoaster. Every time we think we’re close, something throws a wrench in the works (usually those pesky solicitors!). And with the understandable changes in regulations after the Greenfield flat fires, selling our flat has been like trying to climb Mount Everest in flip-flops. But hey, we’re persistent, and we’ll get there eventually!
And speaking of the house move, we’ve been living out of boxes for about 6 months now. Seriously, I can’t even find my favorite socks! This also means all my records and references – the stuff that fuels my blog posts – are packed away. Remember that box labeled “Miscellaneous”? Well, it turned out to be a treasure chest of ancient tech! We’re talking flip phones, iPod shuffles, and headphones that probably predate the dinosaurs. I decided to give these relics a new lease on life (and fund some of our renovation dreams) by selling them on eBay. Who knew old tech could be so valuable? And while I’ve gone digital with a lot of things, some of the juiciest stories are still on paper, buried somewhere in a box labeled “Kitchen Stuff” 🤦♀️
But wait, there’s more! Thanks to my newly acquired childcare knowledge, my brain is bursting with ideas for educational posts for social care professionals. And get ready for some serious brain food! My NVQ journey has reignited my passion for child development theories. I’m itching to share my insights on attachment theory and social learning theory – trust me, these are game-changers when it comes to understanding and supporting children. So, you can expect a lot more of those in the future!
Despite the lack of posts, I’m so grateful for the continued growth of this site. It means the world to me that you’re still interested in my experiences and insights. ❤️
This blog, “Looked After Child,” is more than just a passion project; it’s my lifelong commitment to giving a voice to every child who has been through the care system, young and old. And I’m more motivated than ever to keep writing and sharing once things settle down.
So, while I don’t have a firm date for my blogging comeback, you can expect new posts no later than February 2025. In the meantime, tell me, what are your burning questions about attachment theory or social learning theory? Let’s get a discussion going!
on another note looked after child will be posting its annual update very soon!
